As with most panoramas, landscapes provide a wide viewing angle of a scene or setting. The image is recreated from the perspective of the artist. Most humans have a field of view of approximately one hundred and eighty degrees. This field of view is certainly a factor in how humans perceive the world around them. So the artist and photographer see what most of us would see when looking at a similar image. Panoramas are a way of capturing this wide field of vision, making it easy to see why panoramic images, especially landscape images are so popular.
